Deion Jenkins, the half-brother of Atlanta emcee/producer Soulja Boy, died in a fatal car crash Sunday in Charleston, MS. The superstar rapper’s younger brother Jenkins was only 14 years old according to XXL.
“At home crying my eyes out I can’t believe my Lil bro is gone…,” Soulja Boy posted on his Twitter account Monday. “Today is so not my day.. RIP lil brother love you always :(.”
The Atlanta rapper was in Los Angeles where he’s currently fielding movie deals when he learned of the news.
Miami Mike, CEO of Palm Tree Entertainment and associate of Soulja Boy, also tweeted his condolences. The Flags are @ Half Staff @ the Offices of SODMG & PTE, R.I.P. to @Souljaboy little brother who passed-way in a auto crash last nite .”
Other details on the crash—other victims, the number of cars, etc.–were unavailable at press time.
This tragedy happened only a day after Soulja Boy celebrated passing the 100,000 view benchmark for his new mixtape, 1-Up.
Fans and supporters used Twitter to voice their empathy for Soulja Boy and his family as well.
“I’ve done my share of Soulja Boy bashing but I do send out my condolences for him losing his little brother,” @Tim_Sanchez added. “I wish that for nobody.”
“Damn My Prayers Go Out To Soulja Boy and his family i couldnt imagine losing a brother dass deep,” @thebeatbully tweeted.
